Turpin Kids Freed From 'Horror House' Abused Further By Foster Family
PERRIS, CA — A foster family who admitted to abusing six of the children rescued from the abusive "house of horrors" they grew up in under the thumb of David and Louise Turpin in Perris were sentenced Friday. The trio pleaded guilty to multiple counts of abuse last month.Marcelino Camacho Olguin, 63, his wife, Rosa Armida Olguin, 58, and their adult daughter, Lennys Giovanna Olguin, 37, admitted to charges levied against them related to sexual abuse and false imprisonment in September, according to court records.Marcelino Olguin pleaded guilty in September to four counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years old, with the defendant being at least 10 years older; three counts of lewd acts on a child younger than 14; one count of false imprisonment; and one count of injuring a child. He will serve at least seven years in state prison after he is sentenced, their attorney Paul Grech told the Press Enterprise.Marcelino Olguin will be required to register with the state as a sex offender, Thalia Hayden, spokeswoman for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, told the Press-Enterprise. His wife, Rosa, and their daughter, Lennys, also entered guilty pleas. According to Hayden, they both admitted to three counts of willful child cruelty and one count each of false imprisonment and intimidating a witness. Rosa Olguin also pleaded guilty to grand theft. Both Rosa and Lennys Olguin face four years of probation and a four-year suspended sentence."Lennys Olguin will also be sentenced to 150 days in the sheriff’s work-release program; Rosa Olguin faces 120 days in the work-release program," Hayden said. Those sentences were slated to be handed down on Friday.“Today’s sentencing marks a significant step in delivering justice to the victims who endured unimaginable abuse,” said Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin. “These children were placed in a position of vulnerability after surviving intense trauma, only to be further exploited by someone who was entrusted with their care. We are committed to holding accountable those who prey on innocent children.”The 13 Turpin children were initially removed from their parents' 160 Muir Woods Road home in Perris in 2018 after the couple were arrested for perpetrating ongoing abuse. David and Louise Turpin ultimately pleaded guilty, and both were sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison. The defendants operated what prosecutors and investigators described as a "house of horrors," keeping some of the children caged or chained most times of the day, forcing them to subsist on peanut butter sandwiches and burritos, making them sleep up to 20 hours daily, and allowing them to shower only once a year. However, after they were taken away from their parents, some of the victims suffered additional trauma when CSD agents placed them in what their attorney, Elan Zektser, described as a "known abusive foster home."Both Zektser and Roger Booth are representing the brothers and sisters in their civil suit against the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services and ChildNet. They aim to hold those organizations accountable for placing the children in the Olguin's home, where they were further abused and neglected.Zektser and Booth filed previous lawsuits against the county and Long Beach-based ChildNet according to what the Turpin youths allegedly suffered, seeking unspecified damage awards.According to Zektser's complaint, several of the Turpin girls were objects of lascivious attention from Marcelino Olguin, with him "grabbing and fondling (their) buttocks, legs, breasts" and "kissing them on their mouths and making sexually suggestive comments."There were instances of the Olguins "pulling their hair, hitting them with a belt and striking their heads," according to the complaint.According to the complaint, the children endured verbal abuse from the defendants, who cursed at them and told them they were worthless and should commit suicide. It alleges thes children were forced to eat until they began to vomit, then ordered "to eat their own vomit." The children were also forced to sit by themselves outside for many hours at a time and made to sit in a circle and recount, in detail, the horrors that they had experienced while living with their parents, according to the suit.Related: 6 Of 13 Turpin Kids File Suit Against RivCo, Foster Care Agency: Court | Murrieta, CA PatchTreatment Of Tortured RivCo Siblings Leads To New Investigation | Lake Elsinore, CA PatchTurpin Teen Posts Footage From Alleged Torture House: Report | Murrieta, CA PatchAuction Ends For Home Where Turpin Couple Allegedly Abused Kids | Murrieta, CA PatchThe article Turpin Kids Freed From 'Horror House' Abused Further By Foster Family appeared first on Murrieta, CA Patch.
