Notebook: Millard South group took center stage at Nebraska’s first FNL Camp
Several notable prospects participated in Nebraska’s first Friday Night Light Camp, but four 2026 Millard South prospects arguably stole the show.
No team in the state has more Division I talent right now than the Patriots, and they showcased that on Friday at an event featuring around 350 participants from 25 states.

Leading the way for the Patriots was 2026 tight end Isaac Jensen, who already holds offers from Nebraska, Missouri, K-State and Iowa State.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pound Jensen made it look easy, running his routes and catching the football effortlessly.
His 2026 teammate, wide receiver Amarion Jackson, was not far behind him. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Jackson already holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, K-State, Illinois, and Minnesota after a record-breaking sophomore season with 57 catches for 1,086 yards and 12 touchdowns.
One would think Jackson is on the radar for a Husker offer. He ran crisp routes all night and responded well to Garrett McGuire’s coaching.
Meanwhile, on the offensive line, Millard South was led on Friday by 2026 standout Landen Von Seggren. This month, he’s picked up offers from Iowa, Memphis, and Miami (Ohio). The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Von Seggren worked out for the Husker staff, and he, too, is another to watch for an offer down the road.
Lastly, Patriot quarterback Jett Thomalla threw on Friday, as he’s still waiting for his first Division I offer, but Iowa State and many others appear to be very close. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Thomalla completed 177-of-294 passes (60.2 percent) for 2,800 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2023.
Because of severe thunderstorms, Friday’s camp was held indoors in the Hawks Championship Indoor Facility and the Cook Pavillion.
Jimari Butler’s younger brother Khatori Marion made plays all night
At a camp like Fridays, new faces tend to emerge. One of those was Mobile (Ala.) Baker wide receiver Khatori Marion.
The 5-foot-11, 170-proud Marion is the younger brother of current Husker defensive lineman Jimari Butler.
He looked as good as any player, and during one-on-ones, he made the most of the impressive play of the night by tracking a 50-yard touchdown pass in the end zone in tight coverage.
After the camp, Marion said he ran his 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds. The 2026 prospect is still awaiting his first Division I offer. My guess is that it will be coming sooner rather than later.
There was a strong guest coaching presence at FNL
Head coach Matt Rhule has done this each of the last two years. A strong FCS and Group of Five coaching presence was at the FNL camp on Friday.
Northern Illinois had four coaches at the camp, North Dakota State had five, and North Dakota had two.
NDSU head coach Tim Polasek and UND head coach Bubba Schweigert were present with their staff at the camp.
At the event, there were also coaches from the University of Sioux Falls, Morningside, Peru State College, St. Olaf College, Dakota Wesleyan University, and Simpson College.
Other FNL Camp prospects of note
HOL take: Another prospect to watch closely for an offer after Friday’s camp is Brandon (S.D.) Brandon Valley 2026 offensive lineman Hudson Parliament. He already holds Power Four offers from Minnesota, Texas Tech and Iowa State. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Parliament was seen talking at length with offensive line coach Donovan Raiola as the camp ended.
HOL take: Naples (Fla.) First Baptist Academy 2028 prospect Brady Quinn is one of the fastest-rising young quarterback prospects in the country. He already has offers from Maryland, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Louisville, UCF, and Missouri. Quinn threw on Friday night, hoping to add Nebraska to that list.
HOL take: Montgomery (Ala.) Pike Road 2025 defensive back Julius Lane already holds offers from Power Four schools West Virginia and Mississippi State. He camped at NU with eight confirmed offers at this point.
HOL take: 2026 Lawrence (Kan.) linebacker Joshua Galbreath is one of the top up-and-coming players at his position in the region. He has early offers so far from K-State and Iowa State.
HOL take: 2026 Manhattan (Kan.) defensive back James Dunnigan Jr. is one of the top prospects in Kansas. He recently picked up an offer from K-State.
HOL take: Wentzville (Mo.) Emil E. Holt Sr. tight end Gabriel Cunningham has several top FCS offers and an FBS offer from Eastern Michigan. He looked the part physically on Friday.
HOL take: Appleton (Wisc.) Xavier edge Carter Appl is still waiting for his first FBS offer, but he has tested off the charts with a 4.66 speed, a 35.5 inch vertical, and a 9-6 broad jump at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds. He definitely had the attention of the FCS coaches in attendance.
HOL take: The son of former Husker WR Maurice Purify had a strong showing. We also learned tonight he is leaving Lincoln North Star for Omaha Westside.
