On3 National Analysis of new Alabama 2026 DB commit
Kalen DeBoer and his staff have accomplished a lot on the recruiting trail since arriving at Alabama.
They landed commitments from Noah Carter and Ryan Williams in January to finish off the 2024 class on a strong note. 11 players from the NCAA Transfer Portal have joined forces with the Tide since DeBoer’s arrival. And the new Bama staff has assembled a 2025 class that currently checks in at No. 7 in the recruiting rankings.

This weekend, DeBoer and Company jumpstarted their 2026 class with a commitment from one of the top rising juniors in the state. Jamarrion Gordon, who hails from Jackson (Ala.) High School, announced his commitment to Alabama on Saturday morning. He is the first prospect in his recruiting cycle to commit to the Tide with DeBoer at the helm.
The four-star committed to Bama over a final group that included Georgia, LSU, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Gordon earned an offer from Alabama on April 9 following a visit with the new staff. He visited Tuscaloosa three times last year — In January, on June 14, and for the Tennessee game on Oct. 21. Gordon did not receive an offer from the previous staff.
The On3 Industry Rankings tab Gordon as the No. 214 overall recruit in his class. He’s also the No. 18 cornerback and No. 10 rising junior in the state of Alabama. Nearly two dozen schools have offered him thus far.
For more on the Tide’s first commitment in the 2026 class under DeBoer, BamaOnLine spoke with On3 Sports National Scouting and Rankings Director Charles Power about Gordon’s skill set.
New Alabama commit Jamarrion Gordon brings a lot to the table
“Jamarrion Gordon is a well-rounded, versatile defensive back. He’s capable of lining up at a couple of different spots in the defense. We’ve seen him line up as an outside corner and as a nickel for his high school team on Friday nights. I think that versatility projects over to the college level.
“He’s active. I think he’s a quick trigger to the ball. Closes quickly. His ability to break on passes really stands out, especially for a sophomore defensive back. I think his physicality stands out as well. He does not shy away from contact; actually seeks out contact and works to bring down ball carriers.
“He’s physical off the line of scrimmage as well. We saw that a little bit in the camp setting. He does not shy away from using his hands to reroute bigger receivers and tight ends. I think just that willingness for physicality, contact, and that aggressive mentality definitely shows up on his sophomore film and the camp setting as well.

“I think, long term, there’s a ways to go with 2026 prospects. They have two more years of high school left to play. There’s a lot of room for physical maturation. I would lean toward him being more of a nickel type right now, but that’s not to say that he couldn’t grow into and develop into a pure outside corner.
“I think moving forward — as is the case with a lot of young prospects — we’re going to continue to evaluate these guys in these final two years of high school football. How they grow and mature physically. I think Gordon can continue to work on his top-end speed.
“But I think in terms of the play personality and the position-specific skills he’s shown as a sophomore, I think it’s encouraging. He’s an in-state prospect. Sought-after at this stage in the process. So, for Alabama’s new staff to come in, identify him, and get him in the fold early, I think it’s certainly a positive.
“He brings a physical, aggressive mentality to Alabama’s 2026 class.” — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
