Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) left her family members heartbroken when she left without saying goodbye in recent Coronation Street scenes.
Having been taken in by disturbing cult The Institute, Leanne jumped at the opportunity to go on a retreat, despite sister Toyah Battersby’s (Georgia Taylor) concerns.
Sceptical of Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) and The Institute’s motives, Toyah did some digging, but was disappointed when she couldn’t find any solid proof to back up her concerns.
Despite this, she still urged Leanne to reconsider heading off on the retreat, though Leanne couldn’t be swayed.

Moments after Leanne headed out of the door, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) emerged from his bedroom, and was hurt that Leanne hadn’t bothered to say goodbye.
This set his day off to a bad start, though things only got worse from there.
Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) was horrified to find Simon drinking at work, and immediately warned him to stop, which did not go down well.

Furious, Simon stormed out, and wasted no time in getting drunk.
Meanwhile, Nick was also concerned about Leanne’s sudden departure, and couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that she’d taken three different types of perfume with her.
He confided in Toyah that he was concerned that there was something more going on between Leanne and Rowan, though their conversation was soon interrupted by the arrival of Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), who had some bad news about Simon.

After reluctantly agreeing to give Simon a lift to the snooker hall, where they were serving half priced drinks, Tim revealed that he had been sick in his cab and run off without paying.
It was safe to say that Nick and Toyah were furious, with Nick pointing out that Simon was starting to turn into his alcoholic father, Peter Barlow.
When they set off to track him down, they finally found him asleep on a bench, just as some local youths stole his wallet from his pocket.
