Road Work Coming In Caldwell: See List Of Streets, Schedule

CALDWELL, NJ — Several streets in Caldwell are scheduled for road construction work this week. The road work is “part of our commitment to maintain, repair, replace and improve the infrastructure within the borough,” according to a municipal advisory. The work is provided for in the 2025 fiscal year budget, borough officials said. The following roads are slated for milling and paving (weather permitting):August 1 (7:30 am to 2:00 pm) – Milling of Cleveland Road and Cherry Lane (End to End)August 1 (3:00 pm to 5:00 pm) – Milling of Grover Lane (Hatfield to West Caldwell Border)August 5 (7:30 am to 12:00 pm) – Paving of Cleveland Road and Cherry Lane (End to End)August 5 (1:30 pm to 5:00 pm) – Paving of Grover Lane (Hatfield to West Caldwell Border)Borough officials offered the following advice for residents in the impacted areas:CLEVELAND ROAD AND CHERRY LANE – “All vehicles must be off the street and out of driveways by 7:00 a.m. and should remain off until 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise directed by on-site police. Overnight on-street parking will be allowed on the adjacent cross streets during this road construction period. Make all necessary arrangements to park your vehicle accordingly.”GROVER LANE – “Since Grover Lane has no options for alternate routes, we cannot close the street to all traffic during the paving operation. This would create a very unsafe situation for the residents of both Caldwell and West Caldwell. Access to the street during the milling process will be under the direction of the police, which will be handling all traffic control and pedestrian safety. The paving operation will commence in the late afternoon on the 5th. The contractor has assured me that they will pave one side and allow for limited access on the milled side in an alternating sequence under the direction of the PD. Once they begin the paving on the milled side, they will open the newly paved section for travel, again, only under the direction of the police.”Some additional reminders included:“Full access will be provided to the general public once the police have removed all the barricades, however, upon completion of the final paving, we ask that you limit the amount of travel for a 24-hour period, this is so your roadway has the best opportunity to fully cure.”“Please note that any inclement weather or unforeseen conditions may cause delays to this schedule. If a schedule change occurs, you will be advised by an additional notice from the contractor. After milling and paving, the last step of striping takes one day, and will be scheduled and communicated to affected residents.”“We greatly appreciate your assistance and cooperation, and more importantly, your patience during this period of improvement for your area,” borough officials said.“We understand the amount of disruption these types of projects can have, so we will be doing our best to limit the inconvenience to you as we finish this project,” the borough’s advisory continued. “The end result will be well worth it.”For more information, contact [email protected] or 973-226-1250.Send local news tips and correction requests to [email protected].
