Jeopardy! fans beg Mattea Roach to appear on spin-off show – as Masters star says ‘we could tear it up’

JEOPARDY! fans are begging Mattea Roach to compete in the new Amazon spinoff show, and the beloved contestant isn’t opposed.
Earlier this week, the new spinoff Pop Culture Jeopardy! was announced, and it will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Many Jeopardy! fans are excited about the spinoff and already have one contestant in mind.
One X, formerly a Twitter user, shared a post about the eventual premiere of the pop culture version of the iconic quiz show.
They name-dropped Mattea, 24, as a must-have for the new show.
“Need @mattearoach on this STAT,” the fan wrote.
The comment caught Mattea’s attention, and the 23-time champ replied that they’re all-in.
“Just caught up on listening to Vanderpump Fools, honestly if I did this show with any of my straight guy sports expert friends we could tear it up,” they wrote.
The Canadian TV star has proven to be one of the toughest competitors in Jeopardy! history, amassing $800,000-plus from their 2022 streak and tournaments.
According to Jeopardy.com, people “can still apply if they have already been on Jeopardy!.”
That means the door is open for Mattea to wreak havoc on the new show (with two sports-friendly pals, that is).
WHAT IS: POP CULTURE JEOPARDY!
Amazon Prime Video picked up the fresh take on Jeopardy! which will stream exclusively on the platform.
The spinoff will be called Pop Culture Jeopardy! and will feature three big changes to the format.
Instead of answering general knowledge questions like the players on the standard edition of the game show, contestants will answer questions about pop culture subjects like music, movies, sports, TV, and more.
In addition, the show will be streaming instead of on broadcast TV like the nightly show.
Finally, there won’t be three individual contestants competing against each other. Instead, there will be three three-person teams facing off.
That said, there’s one big unanswered clue about the streaming edition of the show – and that’s who will stand behind the Jeopardy! lectern.
Showrunner Michael Davies has not indicated that Ken Jennings, 49, will host the spinoff while juggling the nightly show.
Meanwhile, former host Mayim Bialik seemingly cut all ties with the franchise after being let go in 2023 so fans don’t think she will host either.
