West Dublin / Pleasanton BART Station Installing New Fare Gates

PLEASANTON, CA — BART is installing Next Generation Fare Gates at the West Dublin / Pleasanton station, leading to construction for the next few weeks. The new fare gates feature automatic opening doors, which help reduce fare evasion, and are more accessible for people in wheelchairs, or people bringing bikes or strollers onto trains. BART has successfully installed Next Generation Fare Gates at 41 stations, and plans to install them at all 50 stations by the end of the year. See here for more information. The installation at the West Dublin / Pleasanton station will take place in stages, and the replacement of the first two gates will take roughly two weeks. Additional BART staff and signage will direct riders to open gates, and there will be a handicap accessible gate available. The work will not delay train service, but riders may experience waits of a few extra minutes to pass through the gates during peak travel hours.
