Joe Alwyn Just Broke His Silence for the First Time Ever About Breakup With Taylor Swift
Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift broke up a year ago. Since then, she’s dated Matty Healy, and has been on Cloud 9 with Travis Kelce; and has been open about the lows of her six-year relationship on her new album The Tortured Poets Department. However, Alwyn has remained quiet over the years, keeping everything about his private life a secret, including his romance with Swift.
However, in an interview with The Sunday Times Style published today, June 15, he finally broke his silence. He called the relationship “long, loving, [and] fully committed.”
He also added more, when asked if he’d heard her new album.
“In thinking on what I was going to say, I would think and hope that anyone and everyone can empathize,” he said. “This isn’t a direct answer to your question, but just thinking about what I want to talk about.”
He added, “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. That is a hard thing to navigate.”
His statement clearly shows respect and love for his ex, and how difficult it’s been navigating the end of a nearly seven-year romance.

For those who don’t know, Swift and Alwyn dated from Sept 2016 to March 2023, and were incredibly private about their relationship.
But, is Alwyn dating again, like Swift? He’s not telling anytime soon.
“I feel fortunate to be in a really great place in my life, professionally and personally,” he said in the same interview, adding that he’s doing “really good” after the breakup. “I’m sure you can appreciate, given the level of noise and scrutiny about my past relationship, why I wouldn’t want to just open the door to things like that right now.”
