DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — It won't be too long until voters head to the polls in the general election, and in Delaware County, longtime incumbent Greg Vitali is hoping to keep his seat representing the 166th District.Vitali, a Democrat, has held the seat since 1993 and this election is facing a challenge from Republican Kay Dugery.Dugery, a Texas native and current Haverford resident, hopes to reign in spending in Harrisburg if she becomes the next 166th representative.Her focus would be on ensuring the budget appropriately addresses education, public safety and jobs, while avoiding wasteful spending.She plans to oppose the 300 percent small business tax increase proposal in Harrisburg, as well as to work to make the state's regulatory system more fair, more predictable, and more affordable.As for education, Dugery wants to refocus curriculum on math, science, reading, writing and technology, while also ensuring parents are involved in schools.She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from New York University’s Stern School of Business, then earned an MBA with a Marketing concentration from Villanova University.Vitali, throughout his 30 years representing the 166th District, has been a longtime environmental advocate, having served on the Environmental Resource and Energy Committee in Harrisburg for those three decades.According to his campaign website, Vitali's record includes supporting brick and mortar public schools, women’s rights, criminal justice reform, sensible gun control policies, government reform, and equality for all under the law.
