Plumstead Township Swears In New Full-Time Officer
PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department on May 8 welcomed a new full-time officer to the force.During a meeting of the board of supervisors Makenzie McGowan was sworn in by District Judge Gary Gambardella.McGowan is a 2020 graduate of the Bucks County Technical High School in Fairless Hills where she focused on policing, firefighting and emergency medical services through the school's Emergency Services Program. After graduation, she attended Thomas Jefferson University, majoring in Biomedical Sciences. She then enrolled at the Bucks County Community College and continued her studies. In 2023, she enrolled in the Temple University Police Academy, graduating in October of 2023 with a 91.24 percent final academic score.Makenzie has worked with the Bensalem School District as a swim instructor and with the Brightview Senior Living Center as a resident assistant. She also worked at Sesame Place as a sergeant in the security department. She is a certified instructor in the Management of Aggressive Behavior and holds several certificates in the Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) – National Incident Command System. Since October, she has worked as a part-time police officer with the Tullytown Borough Police Department.Makenzie, a resident of Bristol, successfully completed her background investigation and all medical, vision and psychological examinations.
