“The smell is real”: Jeff Probst’s Disgusting Confession Will Make You Have a Newfound Respect for Survivor Contestants

From thrilling tasks to strategic thinking, Survivor has time and again showcased that it’s definitely more than just a reality show. Keeping the audience hooked to the CBS screens for more than two decades, the show is currently airing its 47th season. Further, the true fans of the show are already well aware of the gruesome living conditions the participants have to go through in order to survive on the isolated island.

Now Jeff Probst’s past interview has added more to this and intensified the debate on the living set up of the contestants. After hearing the same, the audience will definitely have a whole new level of respect for the participants.
Jeff Probst’s Shocking Revelation Will Completely Change How You See Survivor
Jeff Probst has always been the go-to guy when it comes to Survivor. From his stint as the show’s host to being the executive producer and now the showrunner, he brought a new era out in the open. Along with that he also incorporated several other innovative and creative elements of the show. But even this couldn’t tone down the tough living conditions the participants had to go through for 26 days.

The reality show perfectly incorporates the Darwinian evolutionary theory of the “survival of the fittest” and a past interview of Jeff Probst has definitely upped the ante on this. The showrunner in a GQ interview detailed how the show was unscripted, and the audience gets to watch the events as they unfold without any editing. Further, that he himself doesn’t read any scripts, and all of his reactions are purely natural.
While being a show, its authenticity has always been questioned but Probst was sure that even the players would back him up on this one. It was this realism and rawness, that Probst added that this unscripted nature extends to the participant’s living conditions as well. He added “The smell is real. It’s kind of a combination of a campfire and a gym locker that hasn’t been opened in a decade.”

Participating in Survivor is still a dream for many, as the show has a very tough selection process in place. But one player not only defied these odds and participated in the show, but according to Jeff Probst, he’d be perfect behind the camera as a producer as well. He revealed the same during an episode of his own podcast On Fire With Jeff Probst.

In the same episode, when he was asked about a former player possibly stepping into the shoes of a producer, Probst said “That’s not completely out of question.” And immediately had Mike White in his mind for this role. Interestingly, White had participated in the show’s 37th season titled Survivor: David vs. Goliath and was placed second. On the same topic, Jeff Probst added:
If after Mike White completes what we all hope will be a decades-long run of The White Lotus and he said, ‘Hey, Probst, I’d be interested in being a producer on the show,’ and we happened to have a producing slot that we were looking to fill and there wasn’t anybody already in our producing ranks who was in line — which is also very unlikely that that would happen — then in that specific situation, who knows?
While the possibility of this happening in the near future is highly unlikely, given the huge bucks White’s earning with HBO. But given Probst’s vision for Survivor and taking it to the 60th season milestone. Maybe White could turn up to produce one or two seasons.
