Cops Save Man Who Crashed Amid Medical Emergency In Naperville
NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police saved a driver after he experienced a medical emergency that caused his car to crash into a trailer on Ogden Avenue in early May. Police say they noticed the man's SUV traveling "erratically," going below the speed limit and then picking up speed. The SUV then left the road, went over a curb and hit a taco trailer that was parked nearby. According to police, the driver got out of the car after the crash and collapsed. Officers say he was not breathing and unconscious, so they performed CPR and used an automated external defibrillator (AED) to try to revive him. Paramedics arrived shortly after and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he became conscious again. In a post on social media, the Naperville Police Department shared, "It just so happens that we had just equipped all our squads with new medical bags and AEDs this spring! We didn’t have AEDs in all our squads prior to this, but thanks to some forethought and planning by staff, budget approval, and the donation of AEDs from the Naperville Fire Department, there is now an AED in every marked Naperville Police vehicle! And, as this case shows, they’re already saving lives!" The article Cops Save Man Who Crashed Amid Medical Emergency In Naperville appeared first on Naperville, IL Patch.
