David Foster Gushes Over the Success of His Daughters Sara and Erin's Show “Nobody Wants This”: It's 'Next Level'

David Foster is over the moon about his daughters Erin Foster and Sara Foster’s new show, Nobody Wants This.The Netflix series, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, follows “Hot Rabbi” Noah (Brody) and podcaster Joanne (Bell) as they navigate an unconventional romance with more than its fair share of skeptics.Created and written by Erin, and with Sara as a fellow executive producer, Nobody Wants This debuted on Thursday, Sept. 26, to rave reviews, but perhaps none were quite as glowing as David’s praise."I thought it was fantastic. They’ve been working on it for five years, Erin and Sara," he told E! News at the Carousel of Hope Ball on Oct. 5. “As a father, it’s amazing, like she knows what that feeling is like, the feeling that I’ve been fortunate to have.""I mean, they’ve had success, obviously, and they’ve done so well, but this is kind of next level," he added.

David also told the outlet how he sees bits and pieces of his daughters in their work, comparing Bell’s character Joanne to Erin.“I think [Joanne's] a lot like Erin,” said David, who has five children — Allison, 54, Amy, 51, Sara, 43, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 37 — from previous relationships, and shares son Rennie, 3, with Katharine McPhee. “I could be wrong, but I know Erin wrote most of the lines. I think I can pick out every line that she wrote, I know her so well.”It also helps that the Netflix comedy series was inspired by Erin’s real-life love story. She met husband Simon Tikhman at a Los Angeles gym in 2018 and later converted to Judaism during their relationship. The couple then tied the knot during a New Year’s Eve ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee in 2019.

The season finale of Nobody Wants This ended on a precarious note, which is why Erin previously said she's a big advocate of a second season, she told IndieWire in September.“I think the conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential season 2,” she told the outlet. “The story in season 1 unfolds really slowly. And so I think if there is a season 2 I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!”Erin also told the Los Angeles Times in a separate interview that the storyline of the Netflix rom-com was very intentional amid growing backlash that it wasn't an accurate portrayal of Jewish women.“I think we need positive Jewish stories right now,” she explained. “I think it’s interesting when people focus on, ‘Oh, this is a stereotype of Jewish people,’ when you have a rabbi as the lead. A hot, cool, young rabbi who smokes weed. That’s the antithesis of how people view a Jewish rabbi, right?”
