Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss is now gravely ill, which has caused him to cancel an important appearance. The seventy-seven-year-old was still on the go when he became so sick that he had to bow out. So, what is going on with him? Keep reading for more details.

Fans have come to love Richard Dreyfuss in almost everything he has ever done. He made waves in American Graffiti and the classic Jaws, as well as Always and Down and Out in Beverly Hills. The award-winning actor has been very candid about his personal struggles. He was addicted to drugs, and eventually opted to enter rehab, which helped him immensely. Of course, he had to show up and prove that he was not going to go backwards, which is a feat all in itself. Later on in his career, Richard shared that he had Bipolar Disorder and explained what it was like living with that.

At the same time, he has come under fire for co-star feuds and sexual harassment allegations. Despite all of this, Richard remained a fan favorite, so many were thrilled when he signed on for SharkCon. This was set to take place from July 12 to 13 in Florida, but unfortunately, Richard had to back out. He made a quick apology video, covered by a Jaws blanket. Richard then tried to explain what was wrong with him, but struggled. Fortunately, his wife was able to chime in and share that he had bronchitis and could not make the flight per doctor’s orders.
It was noted that anyone who prepaid for autographs with Richard Dreyfuss would be refunded within days. However, it was clear that he was not doing well at all, and looked like he was having a very hard time. The actor was set to speak at the convention, and fans were thrilled for this moment. Yet, they also cared very much about his health and hoped he would get better soon.
