Inside the numbers: South Carolina NCAA Tournament bound, again
For the first time since 2018, South Carolina is headed on the road to play in a regional. On Monday, it was announced that the Gamecocks will be a two seed in the Raleigh Regional.
Historically, South Carolina is no stranger to the NCAA Tournament. This year will mark the Gamecocks 35th appearance in the tournament in program history. Their first came in 1974 under Bobby Richardson.

Under Mark Kingston, this will be the Gamecocks fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament. In Kingston’s three other appearances, two resulted in trips to Super Regionals. The Gamecocks are 8-6 in the tournament with Kingston at the helm. In program history, USC is 140-73 in the NCAA Tournament.
South Carolina has won 19 regionals, with their last coming just last season. They’ve reached 11 College World Series with their most recent appearance coming in 2012.

Joining South Carolina in the Raleigh Regional are:
NC State (33-20)
The Wolfpack will be making their 34th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and will serve as the host of the regional. NC State has reached Super Regionals five times before with their most recent coming in 2021. Last season, the Wolfpack loss to South Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament when the Gamecocks hosted.
James Madison (34-23)
Returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, this is the ninth time that JMU has ever reached the tournament. Their lone regional title came in 1983, which was also the only year that they’ve reached the College World Series.
Bryant (36-19)
Out of the state of Rhode Island, the Bulldogs head into postseason play after winning both the America East regular season and tournament titles. Making just their fourth D1 Tournament appearance, Bryant appeared in the DII Tournament five times before moving up to D1 in 2009. While members of the NE-10, they appeared in the DII College World Series in 2004.
