Ale͏x Pereira needed ͏jus͏t 1͏͏75 da͏ys ͏t͏o de͏f͏e͏nd ͏his title three time͏s i͏n ͏a ͏row͏, proving h͏is͏ dom͏in͏an͏c͏e whe͏n͏ ͏h͏e de͏fe͏ated͏ ͏Khalil Rountre͏e͏ Jr. at UF͏C͏ 307. Well, victory is sweet for the champion and it appears that he has a message for Dana White and company. Want to know what the light-heavyweight champion said about the UFC CEO? Stay tuned as we are back with another episode of MMA Roundup.
From the heartfelt message by ‘Poatan’, we will move on forward to another challenge to Alex Pereira by his former opponent Jamahal Hill. Lastly, we will end our Roundup with a piece of news from Dricus Du Plessis, who appeared to have given his insights on the UFC 307 headliner. So, without any further ado, let’s get started.
Dana White gets an appreciation note from Alex Pereira
The light-heavyweight belt was on the line at UFC 307, and Alex Pereira successfully retained his title, unlike the other champions who have struggled to defend theirs this year. With three title defenses in just 175 days, ‘Poatan’ has broken multiple records and one of them is defending three title defenses within the shortest of time. Regardless, this record would have been broken if Dana White had not supported the fighter and it looks like Pereira knows how to give back.

The light-heavyweight champ took to his Instagram handle to add a photo of himself with his team and asserted that he would like to take some time off from Octagon, “Thank you so much for all the support from my fans last night, all that love just makes me always train hard and perform my best to always bring a show for all of you, this year I did 3 fights and ended with 3 wins, with the end of my last fight I feel that was somehow the end of a cycle, the talk and love that @danawhite show to me and my team after my fight makes me excited to the future will bring for me in the @ufc”
The rise of Alex Pereira under the promotion has been nothing but phenomenal and his story is far from ending, however, ‘Poatan’ would like to take his much-needed rest before proceeding forward.
͏Dricus Du Plessis breaks down ‘Poatan’ fight against Khalil Rountree Jr
The midd͏leweight͏ champion of the͏ world, Dricu͏s Du Pl͏essis, watched th͏e ͏UF͏C 307 ͏headli͏n͏er fr͏om his home and had a few ͏words for͏ both Alex Perei͏ra a͏nd K͏halil Ro͏u͏ntr͏ee Jr. After the Salt Lake City, Utah event, ‘StillKnocks’ took to his X handle to appreciate both the fighter for their epic fight, “I thought both men looked incredible tonight. [I] had the first two rounds for Rountree Jr. but those low kicks added up. Well done both of you are warriors.”

Both Dricus Du Plessis and Alex Pereira have expressed their interest in fighting each other. Du Plessis could have taken the approach of calling out Pereira but he chose to be respectful. It must be noted that both the fighters have traded words against each other with ‘Poatan’ tagging Du Plessis as ‘Scared’ of fighting him. However, their fight may not be a possibility considering that Pereira asserted that he would let his sparring partner Sean Strickland fight Du Plessis first.
Now that we know about ‘StillKnocks’ thoughts, let us move on forward to Jamahal Hill, who has called out Pereira for a rematch.
Jamahal Hill warns Alex Pereira
Jamahal Hill was in attendance at the Delta Centre, Salt Lake City, Utah event to witness the clash between Khalil Rountree Jr and his former opponent Alex Pereira. When Pereira dropped Rountree Jr in the fourth round, the camera panned toward Jamahal Hill, who yawned at the camera indicating that this fight was nothing but boring to him.

At the post-fight press conference, Alex Pereira was asked about his opinions on Jamahal Hill’s antics to which the light-heavyweight champion responded with, “Maybe he just woke up from UFC 300.” This statement by the light-heavyweight champion didn’t go well with ‘Sweet Dreams’ who called out Pereira through his social media handle, “You said that!!! But you will see me soon and we will see when you wake up!!!'”
Interestingly, Hill was scheduled to take on Khalil Rountree Jr. at the UFC 303 card but the Las Vegas, Nevada native was removed from the fight due to testing positive for a banned substance. Regardless, what’s your take on Jamahal Hill’s warning to Alex Pereira? State your thoughts in the comments below.
