On3 National Analysis of new Alabama OL commit
Heading into the month of June, Alabama held commitments from zero offensive lineman prospects. Fast forward just over three weeks later, and the Crimson Tide have resolved any concerns regarding their recruiting efforts at the position group.
On Saturday evening, in-state offensive lineman Micah DeBose announced his commitment to the University of Alabama. The Mobile, Alabama, prospect out of Vigor High School chose Bama over Florida, LSU, and Ohio State. DeBose committed to the Tide during his official visit this weekend.
With DeBose in the fold, Kalen DeBoer‘s program has now added four offensive linemen in the past 12 days alone. Michael Carroll kicked things off with his commitment on June 10, followed by Mal Waldrep a day later, and then Jackson Lloyd one week after Waldrep. DeBose (Mobile) and Waldrep (Phenix City) are the two highest-rated interior offensive linemen in the state of Alabama.
The On3 Industry Rankings tab DeBose as the No. 123 overall prospect in the Class of 2025. He checks in as the No. 9 interior offensive lineman, as well as the No. 10 prospect in Alabama. His commitment keeps the Tide at No. 3 in the team recruiting rankings with a class score of 92.551.
Bama’s program is continuing arguably the best run of any program on the recruiting trail this month. DeBose’s commitment marks their eighth addition since the start of June. Alabama has landed a verbal pledge from at least one visitor in each of the four official visitor weekends, and the program is heavily in the mix for some other top recruits on campus this weekend.
On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power provided an in-depth analysis of DeBose’s skill set and what stands out about his game.
Power: Micah DeBose is “an SEC, prototypical road-grading” interior OL
“Micah DeBose is a nasty, physical road-grader. I think the first thing that jumps out when you watch his film is that this guy is looking to impose his will on whoever is in front of him. He’s violent. He works to finish his blocks. Has some emphatic pancakes when you watch him play. He just plays with a level of nastiness that you always covet in your offensive linemen.
“Obviously, he’s a big guy at close to 6-foot-4.5. Our most recent weight on him was around 330, 335. He shows good twitch off the line and really has that playing personality that you want to see, along with his want to seek out physical altercations on the football field.
“I think he certainly projects best inside at this point, based on what we’ve seen. He’s played a lot of left tackle at Vigor, so I think he will add some positional flexibility, if needed. With his skill set, body type, and personality, I think he’s a great fit on the interior, at right or left guard. He’s obviously a guy we’ve known about for some time and, based on all of our exposures to him, he’s best on Friday nights.
“He plays hard. You watch the game film, and don’t see many busts from him at all. He checks out kind of in every aspect when you watch him on Friday nights.
“Had a chance to see him at the Atlanta Under Armour camp back in February. I think the biggest thing with Micah is making sure he’s in shape. He had added some weight after his junior year; it probably wasn’t his best showing. I think the biggest thing with him is making sure he’s in shape. I really don’t have a lot of concerns that he’s going to be able to do that once he’s in a college program.

“All indications are that he’s conscientious and cares. I think that’s the biggest thing with these guys — Once you get them in a college program, if you make the effort, you’re going to see the results.
“I think just continuing to work on his lower body flexibility will also help with his lateral agility. He’s a guy who I think is an SEC, prototypical road-grading interior offensive lineman with the upside to maybe kick out at tackle, if needed.
“When you’re looking at Alabama, I think they have a great shot at landing the top offensive line class in the country. In my time doing this, this is the strongest group of offensive linemen in the 2025 cycle that I’ve seen in one year.
“For Alabama to potentially land the top group in arguably the best offensive line cycle in recent history, I think that’s saying a lot for Kalen DeBoer and his staff in their first year. I think they’ve made strong evals. They were ahead of the curve with guys like Jackson Lloyd and were quick on Michael Carroll. Those are two guys we have in the Top 30. And, of course, trending for a guy like Ty Haywood, a five-star tackle, the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country and a Top-15 prospect.
“That would be an exceptional offensive line haul that they are trending toward. I think it speaks volumes to the job that the staff is doing, and it really sets a great foundation at a position group of need in this class. If I’m an Alabama fan, I am just completely over the moon with how this new staff is evaluating and recruiting the offensive line.
“When you look at what they did at Washington, it was certainly one of the best o-lines in the country last year. Multiple high draft picks. They have a great story to tell to recruits. Based on the early returns in this first full class at Alabama, it looks like they’re going to continue that trend in Tuscaloosa.”
