Steve McDonald’s new love interest was in Coronation Street before – in an eerily similar role

Since his split from wife Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) in Coronation Street, poor Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) has been pretty unlucky in love.
His attempts to date got off to a bad start when dad Ken Barlow (William Roache) managed to pull instead of him, and he didn’t fare much better at the Rovers’ speed dating night.
However, things seemed to be looking up when he joined a dating site and got chatting to a woman called Demi Mansfield, though their conversation soon dried up and Steve moved on to other options.
When his date with Carole ended in disaster, he was thrilled when Demi got back in touch, and the pair finally met in person.

Back in 1997, Lisa played the role of Rachel Forbes, who contacted Steve to do some renovation work.
It didn’t take her long to fall for his charms, though things hit a rocky patch when she met Fiona Middleton and realised that she too had been romantically involved with Steve.

However, it didn’t take them long to rekindle their relationship, though things didn’t last much longer.
