Royce Lewis’ net worth in 2024 sits at about $2.5 million, according to SportsKeeda.
Royce Lewis attended JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. Lewis was the Los Angeles Times high school baseball Player of the Year in his junior season and played in the All-American Game in his summer.
He was one of the top prospects for the 2017 MLB Draft, but he had committed to attend UC Irvine. He was California Baseball’s 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year, batting .377 with four home runs and 25 stolen bases.
Royce Lewis is drafted by the Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins drafted Lewis with the first overall selection in the 2017 MLB Draft. Lewis opted to forego his college eligibility and signed with the Twins on June 17, 2017. Lewis earned a $6.275 million signing bonus for his first overall selection.
He made his professional debut in the Gulf Coast League and homered in his first pro at-bat, a common theme in his young career, but the Twins promoted him to Single-A by the end of the season. He had a .279 batting average, four home runs, 27 RBIs and 18 stolen bases over 54 games in both leagues.
Lewis batted .315 with nine home runs and 53 RBIs with Cedar Rapids in 2018, earning himself a promotion to Fort Myers in the High-A league. MLB.com ranked Lewis as the 10th-best prospect, which led him to an invite to Spring Training for the 2019 season.
He then was the fifth-best prospect in baseball and received a promotion to Double-A. He didn’t have a great season in Double-A but won Arizona Fall League MVP after the regular minors season ended.
Lewis’ development stalled in 2020 like everyone else when he failed to play a game due to the COVID-19 pandemic, although he did receive instruction and development at the Twins’ alternate training site that all teams had in 2020.
He had another setback in 2021 when doctors diagnosed him with a torn ACL, which caused him to miss another season of playing time. Despite the two years off, the Twins added him to the 40-man roster for the 2022 season.

Royce Lewis debuted in MLB on May 6, 2022, when Twins shortstop Carlos Correa went on the injured list. Lewis played 11 games with the Twins, batting .308 with two home runs and five RBIs.
The Twins were ecstatic with Lewis’ play, but had no place to play the shortstop when Correa returned from the IL. They returned him to AAA to learn to play center field since the Twins’ starting center fielder Byron Buxton was on the IL. Twelve days after being sent down, Lewis was recalled and inserted into the starting lineup in center field.
However, in his first game back, Lewis ran into the wall while making a catch and re-tore the ACL in his knee, which meant another year of rehab.
Lewis came off the injured list two months into the 2023 season, which was exactly one year to the day he was injured, and appeared in 58 games, mostly at third base. He hit .309 with 15 home runs but battled injuries throughout the season.
Lewis returned for Game 1 of the 2023 AL Wild Card series and hit home runs in his first two at-bats to help the Twins end their historic 18-game postseason losing streak. He finished with four home runs during the 2023 postseason, tying Kirby Puckett for most in one postseason in franchise history.
Lewis hoped for a healthier 2024 season but injured his quadriceps on Opening Day after hitting a home run and a single. Lewis continues to emerge from injury stints better than when he left. Since coming off the IL, Lewis is batting .328 with nine home runs in just 17 games. In fact, he’s the fastest in Twins history to 10 home runs to begin a season.
Nevertheless, was Royce Lewis’ net worth in 2024 a surprise?
