Shedeur Sanders gets more bad news from Cleveland Browns despite stunning preseason debut

By JAKE NISSE,
Shedeur Sanders remains the Browns' fourth-string quarterback despite his impressive preseason debut.
With teammates Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel dealing with hamstring injuries and veteran Joe Flacco held out of action, Sanders got the start against the Panthers on Friday - and responded with a 138-yard, two touchdown performance.
And while that debut certainly impressed some NFL fans, it evidently wasn't enough for Sanders to move up Cleveland's latest depth chart.
The Browns' unofficial depth chart released on Monday was unchanged from last week, with Flacco the starter, Pickett the backup, fellow rookie Gabriel third-string and Sanders behind.
Tyler Huntley, who was signed earlier this month amid a spate of injuries at the quarterback position for Cleveland, is listed as fifth-string.
The update comes after some lukewarm comments from coach Kevin Stefanski on Saturday following Sanders' 14-of-23 passing performance.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski refused to guarantee more practice reps for Sanders last weekend
Despite the promising display, Stefanski refused to guarantee that Sanders would see an increase in practice reps or begin taking reps with the first-team offense.
'We need to get through the next couple of days from an injury standpoint and see where everybody is,' he told reporters.
'I'm really focused on all of our quarterbacks' development and every single one of these reps last night, how important they are. So that's what I'm focused on more than anything.'

Stefanski continued that Sanders had things to 'clean up' despite shining in his preseason debut.
'We have a standard for that position and really every position, but certainly the quarterback position,' he said.
'There's a standard by which we play and how we play and how we operate and how we take care of the football and those type of things.
'There are things that Shedeur can clean up, he will clean up. But, by and large, I thought the operation was really good, and that's important when you have different guys in there.'
On Monday, Gabriel was healthy enough to participate in 11-on-11 drills again, while Pickett was limited to 7-on-7 drills in a joint session against the Eagles.
The Browns will play Philly away from home on Saturday.
