Biological mom of victim in Connecticut house of horrors blasts officials for keeping son from her:

WATERBURY, CT – The biological mom of the man who was allegedly locked away and starved for two decades by his accused wicked stepmother blasted officials Tuesday for not allowing her to contact her son and keeping information on his well-being from her.
Tracy Vallerand was in court Tuesday where her son’s alleged captor, Kimberly Sullivan, had been scheduled for a hearing – which was rescheduled for next month without Sullivan’s appearance.

The 32-year-old man was just 68 pounds when he intentionally set his room on fire and was rescued by first responders.

The son – now 32 – was only freed from 20 years of captivity after he set fire to the house where Sullivan, 57, allegedly locked him away, torturing and starving him.
The victim – who was only 68 pounds when he was liberated in February – spoke out anonymously for the first time last week since his release.
“I am much better and stronger than I was the day the first responders carried me out of my home,” the victim said at the time.

But Vallerand has yet to be reunited with her son since her last time seeing him when he was taken out of school at 10 and disappeared. She claims state authorities have been keeping details about his recovery and location from her.
“The state failed me again,” Vallerand said. “So not only has he been withheld from me for the last 32 years, they’re still withholding him from me now.”
While the mom said she is “very happy” to hear that he’s begun recovering, “it still breaks my heart because he still needs to know what love is.

“I cry every day… It’s hard,” Vallerand said of reading her son’s statement from last week.

And she said it’s hard to control herself from the anger she feels every time she attends Sullivan’s court appearances.
“I control myself every time I have to step into this courtroom and be an adult and not do anything stupid,” Vallerand said. “And I won’t do anything stupid because he needs justice.”
