Penn State adds four-star running back Jabree Wallace-Coleman to Class of 2025
Penn State has added another in-state prospect to its Class of 2025, picking up a commitment from Philadelphia native Jabree Wallace-Coleman. A four-star running back prospect, Wallace-Coleman has been one of Imhotep Charter’s key players in recent years. Last season, he not only rushed for 1,500 yards and 27 touchdowns, but he also helped lead the Panthers to a PIAA 5A state championship.
The Nittany Lions extended an offer to Wallace-Coleman shortly after his freshman season in Dec. 2021. Earning more than 20 scholarship offers overall, the 6-foot, 200-pound running back originally committed to Georgia back in July 2022. He held firm with that commitment for over a year, only to open up his recruitment again this past December.
He kept a low profile throughout most of his recruitment and that was again the case down the stretch. However, he did publicly announce a visit to North Carolina back in April and followed that up with an official visit to Chapel Hill from June 11-13.
For Penn State, which had three running backs committed up until Friday when Alabama native Alvin Henderson switched his commitment to Auburn, Wallace-Coleman had always been one of the staff’s top targets at the position. In some ways, that made Henderson’s decision easier to take than most decommitments.
“I have a great relationship with Coach [Ja’Juan] Seider and Coach Deion [Barnes],” Wallace-Coleman told BWI back in May. “Also, whenever I’ve been up there, I talk to Coach [James] Franklin a lot. He gives me good vibes. But they really try to build trust and keep in communication with me. They check in with me a lot and are always checking on me. I think with them, it’s bigger than football.”
According to On3’s rankings, Wallace-Coleman is the 10th-ranked running back in the country. He’s rated No. 153 nationally and seventh overall in Pennsylvania. The On3 Industry Rankings, which combine 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN with On3 for a cumulative grade – have him ranked No. 213 nationally, 13th overall at running back and sixth overall in Pennsylvania.
