Newsstand: What is the spread for the Stanford vs. Notre Dame football game?
Vegas oddsmakers are projecting a much different outcome at Notre Dame Stadium than the first time Stanford faced the Fighting Irish in the Marcus Freeman era.
Circa Sports released its opening lines for Week 7 of the college football season on Sunday. Notre Dame opens as a 23-point favorite against the Cardinal. The over/under points total is 46½.
Freeman’s program is 3-2 this season against the spread, including 1-2 at home. The Irish have exceeded the over in the Purdue and Louisville games. The under hit in the three other contests.
On the opposing sideline, Stanford will bring to South Bend a 2-3 record against the spread this season. It has failed to surpass the points total in all but one game, which was a Week 1 34-27 loss to TCU.
Last season, Notre Dame defeated the Irish 56-23. This year’s game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on NBC.

Blue & Gold beat reporter Jack Soble shared context to the significance of the team’s Week 1 victory over Texas A&M.
Yesterday, Notre Dame's resume got a significant boost with Texas A&M's 41-10 thrashing of Missouri.More than anything, I have a newfound respect for ND's offensive game plan and the O-line's heart in Week 1. Despite a 34-13 loss to the Washington Commanders, former Irish linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah shined for the Cleveland Browns.

Notre Dame Quote of the Weekend
“A couple (schools) have been hitting me up, but I’m telling them that I’m locked in. I’m not trying to go through that right now. I’m focused on the Irish, and that’s where I feel like God has led me to be.
“Notre Dame is perfect. Every time I visit there, it feels like it’s where I’m supposed to be. My parents and siblings love it too. Notre Dame is the top of the top for me. I love the people and coaches there — even the teammates I’m committed with. I love it.”
— Irish three-star wide receiver pledge Elijah Burress of Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic on the strength of his verbal commitment.
