Local Donut Shop Announces Closure Due To Rent Hikes

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — A well-loved South Orange County establishment will close its doors this month. "It has come with a heavy heart to inform you of some unfortunate news. After careful consideration, we have come to the difficult decision to close the doors of The Doughnut Parlor," co-owner Benitez Dee said in a Facebook post. "Due to the recent circumstances, we have made the decision to move to a new location."Dee wrote in the post that the decision was made after a significant rent hike on the location they were leasing put an "immense strain" on the shop's daily operations. "Although this chapter is coming to an end, we encourage you to continue supporting local businesses in your community," Dee said. The Doughnut Parlor in Rancho Santa Margarita will continue to operate until after May 26, Dee said, and residents can stop by from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. After May 26, The Doughnut Parlor will move to a new location on 1640 E. First St. in Santa Ana, located next to the Santa Ana Zoo.The article Local Donut Shop Announces Closure Due To Rent Hikes appeared first on Rancho Santa Margarita, CA Patch.
