Bomb Threat Not Credible At Prince William County Courthouse, Jail

MANASSAS, VA — A bomb threat at the Prince William-Manassas Adult Detention Center and Courthouse complex was found not to be credible Thursday, police say.Prince William County Police had responded to the jail and courthouse complex at 9320 Lee Ave. in Manassas around 1:53 p.m. Thursday. Police say the suspect entered the lobby, brought a bag to a bathroom and called 911 to falsely report a bomb threat. The courthouse and jail adjusted operations as a precaution while police investigated. A K-9 unit and Virginia State Police explosive disposal unit determined the bag was not a bomb, and there was no threat to the complex.Staff in the Adult Detention Center were in contact with the suspect in the lobby and found he was intoxicated. Ray Darnell Smith, 30, of Haymarket, was taken into custody and charged with threats to bomb, obstruction to justice and intoxicated in public. He was held without bond.
