Commit Watch: Three recruits Michigan can close with before Victors Weekend ends
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has hinted that good news is on the way, sending out three eyeball emoji tweets on Saturday.
Here is a look at three recruits Michigan can seal the deal with as Victors Weekend comes to an end.
RB Donovan Johnson, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Johnson currently isn’t on campus for the Victors Weekend festivities, but he was in Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit this week. That trip went extremely well as Johnson got his first look at the program on and off the field. I put in an On3 Prediction for Johnson on Saturday evening and feel confident that the Wolverines can land him relatively soon. The On300 prospect has a special bond with new Michigan running backs coach Tony Alford, who has made him a top priority since taking the job this offseason. Johnson is still recovering from injury but was once considered a five-star level talent and could be a big steal for U-M.
OL Kaden Strayhorn, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
I put in an On3 Prediction in favor of Strayhorn going into Victors Weekend and believe the Wolverines have knocked it out of the park. While Strayhorn is a Michigan State legacy, he has always been high on U-M and has a strong bond with head coach Sherrone Moore, who served as his primary recruiter for more than a year. Moore has continued to be personally involved in his recruitment and should be able to seal the deal here sooner rather than later. The three-star prospect played a lot of tackle for IMG last year but projects as a center at the next level.
LB Chase Taylor, Stockbridge (Ga.) High
Taylor has had a bit of an interesting summer. He was supposed to make official visits to Georgia Tech and USC and rescheduled both only to end up canceling. South Carolina was slated to receive an OV, but the Gamecocks went in a different direction. That left the door wide open for the Wolverines. Michigan has been high on Taylor’s mind since he made an unofficial visit in the spring, and I believe the Wolverines have done enough this weekend to seal the deal. I put in my On3 Prediction for Taylor shortly after he arrived on campus. The three-star prospect is not ranked high, but he is a player that Michigan has prioritized this cycle. Michigan really likes his length, athleticism and upside.
