2 Killed In Motorcycle Vs. SUV Crash In Bridgeport: Police
BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two people were killed Sunday when the motorcycle they were riding was struck by an SUV on Stratford Avenue in Bridgeport, according to police.Stratford resident Carlos Jean Parra Rodriguez, 32, the operator of the motorcycle, and Allentown, Pennsylvania resident Deivi Suarez, 21, the passenger on the bike, were both pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital, following the 6:15 p.m. crash.A 15-year-old passenger from Bridgeport in the SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash, police said. No other injuries were reported.The crash occurred in the 1800 block of Stratford Avenue near the intersection with Edwin Street, and when emergency personnel arrived, they found Rodriguez and Suarez on the ground."The two individuals appeared to be seriously injured and unresponsive," wrote Bridgeport Police Sgt. Darryl Wilson in a statement. "The two individuals received medical assistance, and they were transported to the Bridgeport Hospital Medical Center by [American Medical Response]."According to a preliminary report cited by Wilson, "a 2012 black Chevy Equinox was traveling south on Bishop Avenue and attempted to turn left onto Stratford Avenue and struck a 2004 black Suzuki GSX-R1000 that was traveling east on Stratford Avenue, causing the motorcycle to strike a parked 2014 white Dodge Ram 1500."The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team and the Southern Fairfield County Traffic Unit are investigating the crash; the operator of the Equinox is an 18-year-old Bridgeport man.Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Officer Eroildo Quiles at 475-422-6141 or via email at [email protected].
