5th Annual Halloween Village Set To Spook, Delight In Greenport
GREENPORT, NY — Hold onto your broomsticks! The 5th Annual Greenport Halloween Village is set to offer tricks and treats galore. In collaboration with the Village of Greenport, the event, which takes place on Saturday, October 26 will turn Greenport into "a haunted, and extremely fun Halloween Village," organizers said.The day kicks off with the Village of Greenport’s 12th Annual Halloween Parade at 11 a.m. The parade line up takes place at 10:30 a.m. at the Floyd Memorial Library, located at 539 1st Street.Participants can march along with all the goblins, ghouls, witches, princesses and cowboys, as well as the North Fork Dance Company, as they follow the Greenport Fire Department’s antique fire engine #33 down Main Street to Mitchell Park.From noon to 3 p.m., Greenport Village businesses will host trick-or-treating for kids. The frighteningly fun scavenger hunt returns with the theme, "Skeletons in Our Closets". Both children and adults will make their way around the village and find the numbered skeletons inestablishment windows, displays, and more. Forms can be found around the village as well as here.In addition, the Rotary Club of Greenport will sponsor Spooky Greenport Express mini-railroad rides at Moores Woods from noon to 5 p.m. Also, Nina Keller, head of children and family services at Floyd Memorial Library, will host story time for "little monsters of all ages" at the Blue Duck Bakery courtyard at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The North Fork Arts Center at The Sapan Greenport Theatre will hold a special Halloween showing of "Hotel Transylvania".Restaurants and eateries will be open for nibbles and boos for young and old to enjoy many Halloween-themed foods, goodies and specialty drinks.A rain date has been scheduled for Sunday, October 27.
