Presidential historian Jon Meacham to discuss election, politics in Norfolk Wednesday
Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian Jon Meacham opens The Norfolk Forum’s 2024-25 season Wednesday at Chrysler Hall.
Meacham will present, “The Ultimate Choice: Lessons from the History of Epic Presidential Races.” The author of several No. 1 New York Times bestsellers, Meacham has written books about Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and civil rights icon John Lewis.
Meacham is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a fellow of the Society of American Historians; he’s a distinguished visiting professor at Vanderbilt University, where he holds the Rogers Chair in the American Presidency. His latest book, “The Call to Serve,” honors the 100th anniversary of George H. W. Bush’s birth.
Other speakers in the forum’s season include author Erik Larson, Virginia Beach native and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Angela Hucles Mangano, and authors Bob and Lee Woodruff.
