Pop star Ariana Grande appears to have unintentionally offended quite a few with her recent remarks about Jeffrey Dahmer.
The “We Can’t Be Friends” hitmaker has been under fire since opening up about her prior interest in the serial killer, incurring the wrath of one of his victim’s family members as well as upset internet users.

Ariana Grande, 31, recently visited You actor Penn Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed, where she shared that infamous murderer Jeffrey Dahmer was previously her dream dinner guest. The songstress stated:
“I was infatuated with serial killers when I was younger…years ago before the Dahmer series…I had a Q&A with fans, with young fans at the time…they were with their parents and someone said, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead who would it be?’…I was like…mom and dad is it ok if I give the real answer?”

Continuing, Ariana Grande stated that the parents hesitantly gave her the go-ahead, leading her to reveal:
“I mean Jeffrey Dahmer’s pretty fascinating.”
Shirley, the mother of Dahmer’s deaf, non-verbal victim Tony Hughes, recently spoke out against Grande over the video. She slammed the singer for laughing while discussing the criminal and wants her, and the world, to know how painful it is when people make light of the situation. She stated:
“To me, it seems like she’s sick in her mind. It’s not fancy or funny to say you would have wanted to do dinner with him. It’s also not something you should say to young people, which she says she did.”

As the clip from the podcast episode has gone viral, many others have chimed in, expressing their disappointment in Grande’s comments. Critics suggested the comment was insensitive and problematic, especially to the 17 victims Jeffrey Dahmer killed and butchered throughout the late ’70s and early ’90s. If you recall, the Netflix drama, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, faced similar outrage, especially after Evan Peters who starred as the murderer won a Golden Globe for his performance.
Tony Hughes’ sister Barbara also reportedly condemned the Grammy Award winner, insisting that she offer an apology for “glamorizing” Dahmer and potentially influencing her young fans to do the same.
