Route 18 Southbound Closures Begin In East Brunswick For Infrastructure Work
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Nightly closures and detours on Route 18 southbound begin Monday night in East Brunswick as part of an ongoing pavement improvement project. The closures will continue through Friday night, with work postponed to the following night if weather conditions are poor. Beginning at 10 p.m., Monday, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, and continuing Tuesday night, at the same time, Route 18 southbound is scheduled to be closed from Arthur Street to Racetrack Road. The closure is necessary to install drainage and remove old gas main. The following detour will be in place: Route 18 southbound Detour: Motorists on Route 18 southbound will be directed to turn right onto Arthur Street Turn left onto Summerhill Road/CR 613 southbound Turn left onto Racetrack Road, back to Route 18 Beginning at 10 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday, and continuing Thursday, and Friday at the same time, Route 18 southbound is scheduled to be closed from West Ferris Street to Arthur Street. The closure is necessary to install drainage and remove old gas main. The following detour will be in place: Route 18 southbound Detour: Motorists on Route 18 southbound will be directed to take the jughandle to West Ferris Street/All Turns Turn left onto West Ferris Street; Cross Route 18 Turn right onto Old Bridge Turnpike/CR 527 Turn right onto Arthur Street, back to Route 18 Variable messaging signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
