Five-year-old girl dies days after getting stuck in swing in her yard – as heartbroken aunt reveals devastating detail
A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl has died after getting caught in the swing set in her backyard.
Aurora Masters from Fort Collins, Colorado, got tangled up and strangled when playing on a disc swing.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, she died at the hospital on May 13 after her brain was deprived of oxygen in the incident.
The girl had pulled her little slide over to the swing, her great-aunt Brenda Kennedy told local Fox affiliate KDVR-TV.
“Somehow got caught up in the swing, and the swing strangled her,” Kennedy said.
Officers from the City of Fort Collins Police Department immediately started treatment when they arrived and the scene until emergency medical services took over.
Masters spent a few days in the PICU but the swelling on her brain was so severe that her parents opted for end-of-life care.
On a GoFundMe page set up for the family, Kennedy explained that Masters was kept on life support to preserve her organs for donation.
“Aurora continues the journey to giving her best gifts to others through organ donation,” Kennedy wrote in an update on Tuesday.
“We covet your continued love, prayers, and support as we navigate hard decisions for Aurora and us.”
A further update revealed that the family used the Donor Alliance to see Masters “complete her giving of gifts.”
“Our hearts are shattered and we continue the journey to honor and celebrate her worldly gifts,” the family said.
The City of Fort Collins Police Department is not investigating the child’s death further after ruling it a tragic accident, they told USA Today.
Kennedy called Masters a “ray of sunshine” as she noted the struggle of parents Tom and Krystal “during this difficult time.”
Masters’ mother has posted a picture on Facebook of herself and her daughter beaming into a camera during Easter celebrations.
She also shared images of the aurora borealis that were visible across the country around the time of her death.
“Look at her dancing,” a friend commented on the picture of the night sky colored green and purple.
“I think the Borealis danced her into heaven,” another added.
The fundraising page has almost reached its goal of $30,000 with $29,913 raised at the time of writing.
Financial donations will be going toward a memorial service and celebration of Aurora’s life.
“Once that is complete, extra funds will be donated to agencies and/or organizations that help Aurora’s memory continue,” Kennedy wrote.
Tributes have poured in on Facebook with many praising the strength of her parents and their decision to help others in the wake of their loss.
“I am so incredibly heartbroken for your family,” one wrote.
“I am in absolute awe of the life-saving gifts that her parents chose to give of her! How brave and selfless!
“I cannot imagine the hurt you are all feeling! God Bless each of you as you learn to navigate life without your sweet little girl.”
