Dean McDermott Jumped to Defend Ex-Wife Tori Spelling on Instagram & We’re Here for This Maturity
Just a few days ago, Dean McDermott proved he had officially moved on from his ex Tori Spelling as he went Instagram official with his girlfriend, Lily Calo. And while many comments are celebrating the actor for his all-smiles post, he wasn’t immune to some haters either.
When one commenter questioned why Spelling had liked the post, which included two pictures of McDermott and Calo at The Magic Castle red carpet, McDermott wasn’t afraid to reply back. “The fact Tori liked this is mind boggling!” the commenter wrote.
“It’s because she is a highly evolved and compassionate loving person, which is a lot more then I can say for the trolls commenting on this post,” McDermott replied, putting the hater in their place. “Tori has a boyfriend. People get divorced and are better apart them together. That’s life. I’ll pray for happiness for all the haters. 🙏”
In the caption, McDermott also echoed just how happy he is in his relationship. “Sometimes ya just gotta put on your best duds and take your girl to The Magic Castle,” he wrote. “Cuz she’s Magic!! 🎩#mylovey.”

Luckily, many other commenters understood the situation. “Tori and Dean proudly supporting each other,” one user wrote. “That’s the only [thing] that matters. No need to talk s– on their situation. Cheers 🥂 🔥🔥🔥.”
In October, when McDermott’s relationship with Calo hit the headlines, sources already indicated that the actress would always be supportive of her ex. “[Spelling was] a little surprised,” but she was reportedly “ready to dip her toe in the dating pool, too,” and insider told InTouch at the time.
As a reminder, Spelling and McDermott met back in 2005 on the set of Mind Over Murder, but they were both married to other people at the time. A year later, they married in 2006 and later welcomed five children named Liam Aaron, 16, Stella Doreen, 15, Hattie Margaret, 11, Finn Davey, 10, and Beau Dean, 6.
In 2014, McDermott admitted he cheated on Spelling, but they continued to work through their marital issues. Then, in June 2023, McDermott posted on Instagram that the pair split up, but deleted the posts only minutes later. However, they confirmed the split and have been going forward with their divorce.
