NBA rumors: How Tobias Harris could factor into Paul George’s future
Paul George and Tobias Harris’ futures are in question with their respective teams. Both have been linked to a number of different teams through free agency and sign-and-trade rumors. Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer recently reported that George and Harris could factor into one another’s futures.
The Sixers could reportedly add Harris and the No. 16 pick to a package for George, according to Pompey. Trading George and Harris would be sign-and-trades for both players. It is not clear how much interest the 76ers have in George at the moment, but Philadelphia will do whatever it takes to win a championship.
Paul George

George is 34 years old. He has enjoyed a quality NBA career, but winning a championship is something that will catch his attention. At this point, George has to wonder if that goal can come to fruition with the Clippers.
He is still playing at a high level. He was selected to the NBA All-Star team in 2023-24 and averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per outing across 74 games played. George also shot 47.1 percent rom the field and 41.3 percent from beyond the arc.
He is one of the best players in the game. Even if the 76ers end up not being interested, there will be plenty of teams with a desire to pursue George this offseason. Of course, a return to the Clippers remains a possibility.
Tobias Harris
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports
Harris is 31 years old and although he is not a superstar, there is no question that he is more than capable of positively impacting winning. He averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this past season. Harris also played in 70 games and shot 48.7 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from deep.
Philadelphia surely appreciated everything Harris offered the team. But the 76ers continue to fall short in the postseason. They will likely have interest in adding another star alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. And the idea of a sign-and-trade with Harris to land a star will probably appeal to the team.
The question is if that star will be Paul George. George makes sense as target for Philadelphia. Again, though, there are no guarantees that Philadelphia is fully interested in the Clippers veteran.
76ers, Clippers futures
The 76ers and Clippers are in similar spots. Both teams feature rosters with potential, however, they have struggled to find postseason success.
In all reality, both Philadelphia and Los Angeles could make championship runs with their current rosters. Inconsistency and injuries have played big roles for the teams, though. As a result, making changes will be important. At the very least, each team will attempt to build further depth around their stars.
The Boston Celtics are fresh off a championship after committing to building around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. It took Boston a while to build this specific championship team. Additionally, they needed to add multiple All-Star caliber players around their superstars to go along with impactful depth.
Developing a true contender is difficult. The Clippers and 76ers have the star-power to make it happen, but they need to make the right moves this offseason to take a step forward. The final landing destinations for Paul George and Tobias Harris will play big roles in both teams’ futures.
