He apologized for making fun of her appearance on social media one week ago when Brown was spotted in an outing in Los Angeles wearing a pink top. Matt Lucas took to Instagram to issue his apology to Millie Bobby Brown.
“Dear Millie, I just saw your post and wanted to respond, and provide some context,” Lucas wrote in the post. Here, Lucas noted the similarities in Brown’s LA appearance, where she wore a pink top, to the character Vicky Pollard from his show Great Britain, who also wore a pink top and had blonde hair. He added that he thought Brown “looked terrific” and was “mortified” when the press wrote that he “slammed” her, as it was not his style of comedy.
“I would not have posted it if I had thought it would have upset you but I realise it has and for that I apologise. Matt x,” he added.

For context, one week ago, The Daily Mail published an article whose headline claimed that Lucas insulted the Stranger Things star’s appearance in an outing in Los Angeles where she wore a pink tracksuit hoodie and pink slippers. Here, they shared Lucas’ tweet, which had the photos of Brown’s LA appearance and read “no but yeah but.”
Brown was upset by this and took to Instagram to express her disappointment. Here, she stressed that the problem she was facing was much bigger than her and it affected all young women. She then called out the various articles, including the aforementioned Daily Mail one, describing her appearance in an insensitive manner. She pointed out that these articles practiced “bullying” and not “journalism.”
