During the Indianapolis 500 practice, Siegel was in turn 2 and spun into the outside wall.
The car proceeded to flip in the air while spinning.
It was estimated that the car flipped 200 to 300 feet, per the Peacock broadcast.
Fortunately, the car didn’t flip over and landed on its side.
After the crash, Siegel reported to his team that he was okay.
And he was released from the track’s infield care center.
Siegel didn’t drift below the line and onto the mid-corner before spinning.
The car reached 220 mph and even hit close to 230mph during the crash.
After the incident, Siegel revealed that he didn’t understand how his car went airborne.
“I don’t know exactly what happened,” Siegel said, per Indy Star.
“Got a little loose at the apex, got high, spun, hit the wall.
“It was an unfortunate angle that got me airborne and upside down.
“So I’ll look into it more and maybe have an answer later, but for now, not exactly sure what happened, so we’ll see.”
Siegler revealed he has a backup car for the Indianapolis 500 qualifying this weekend.

The rookie driver added he has no concerns for the main car.
He sits 30th in the 2024 IndyCar standings with 10 points.
Siegler’s fastest lap in Friday’s session was a time of 229.13 mph which ranked 30th.
He’ll have the mission of using a slower car without a full day of practice heading into his first career four-lap qualifying run.
Siegler became the third driver to crash this week.
Rookie Lindus Lundqvist and Marcus Ericsson were involved in separate incidents on Thursday’s practice run.
