“They Will Be a Bowl Team”: Despite Cormani McClain & Dylan Edwards Loss, Deion Sanders’ Colorado Predicted to Be Highly Competitive
The Colorado Buffaloes have regained their word! Deion Sanders and Co. are finally getting back the trust their fans had in them in the 2023 season. Thanks to Deion Sanders’ recruiting mastermind, the transfer portal developments mended the fence between the Buffs fans and them. Surely the negative review from the former Buffs players like Xavier Smith and Cormani McClain did their part in tainting that promise.
However, now that McClain’s truth is out in the public to criticize, he is considered hardly anything more than a minuscule loss that “they just had so many headaches with him in his freshman year,” per the Athletic’s Max Olson. Even Dylan Edwards, for that matter, the guy whom Prime had coached since his school years, that wound of that loss would also heal. The reason behind the sky-high confidence in the Buffs? Players like Dallan Hayden and Rashad Amos bolstered up the Buffs O-line.

“I think they will be improved. I think they will be a Bowl team. But I also think that their call schedule is going to throw them different curveballs too.” Olson commented. Given the transfers they have landed, Colorado has set the bar high for their players, which per Olson is a small victory for CU in the offseason. “Those guys come in and they kind of help be tone-setters for the offense. Really liked what they added on the defensive line. I think they’re going to be able to have very competitive depth there,” Olsen added during his appearance in VSiN’s podcast.
The only question posing mighty against Colorado is if Deion Sanders and Co. could set the offensive and defensive line in a way that would make them win. “But can those guys kind of help fix it because you know, some of the pieces they’re going to count on are gone,” Olson mentioned, posing one of the main challenges CU staff would have to tackle, among the others.
The other challenges in front of Deion Sanders
While Deion Sanders and Co. are setting their offensive and defensive lines without the ‘missing pieces‘, they might as well set them in a way that isn’t too dependent on their elite players, aka the ones who would be moving to the NFL next season. The top players like Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, who are the backbone of CU’s offense would make their way to the NFL next season.
Hence, the responsibility of Colorado’s offense would be solely on the shoulders of the transfers debuting as Buffs this season. The hunt for Shedeur Sanders’ replacement is still on. Amid that, Deion Sanders can be rest assured since he has Jordan Seaton and as Olson mentioned, Hayden and Amos.
