Very naughty emoji could appear on iPhones soon as Apple plots major shake-up that fans say ‘won’t end well’
IPHONE owners have come up with rude uses for a new feature tipped to land on the smartphone later this year.
Apple is reportedly working on a new AI tool that allows users to create their own emoji.
iOS 18 is due out later this year – and could spell a big change to emojiGetty
Some users believe the change could lead to an influx of naughty new emoji
Instead of relying on the huge list of existing emoji, the upcoming iOS 18 update may be able to generate a completely new one “based on what users are texting” according to Bloomberg.
The rumour has sent iPhone owners wild on social media with all sorts of naughty suggestions, such as rude body parts.
“This going to get out of hand,” one user wrote on X, while another said Apple has “opened Pandora’s box with this one”.
“Sexting is about to go crazy,” a third added.
“Dear god this won’t end well,” a fourth said.
Others were quick to point out that Android has already had a similar feature for years, accusing Apple of being “late to the party”.
However, Android’s version is quite limited only blending existing emoji – and hasn’t been shown to create an overly rude variants.
Apple is in a rush to catch up on the AI front after a surge in advanced tech from ChatGPT owner OpenAI, Google’s Gemini and Samsung.
The tech giant is rumoured to be close to signing a deal with OpenAI to bring iOS up to speed on the AI front.
iPhone voice assistant Siri could be in line for a much-needed upgrade.
Apple is due to host a big event on June 10 where the company is expected to reveal all its plans.
Another major change that’s not AI related could see a revamp to the iPhone home screen.
It’s reported that users will have the option to change the colour of app icons.
And iPhone owners may have a little more freedom about how they arrange their home screen too, allowing people to place apps where they like rather than in a standard grid.
iPhone tricks to try today
Here are some of the best...
Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen (or swipe left to right on an iPhone X or later model), then tap in the bar and type a currency (like $200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
