Popular CT Seafood Restaurant & Market Reopens After Fire
Information from West Shore Seafood:MORRIS, CT — Like the phoenix, West Shore Seafood in Morris is rising from the ashes. The restaurant recently reopened, after repairing its kitchen, marketplace and offices following an electrical fire on Jan. 23 of this year. Over the years, West Shore Seafood has earned a reputation as the go-to destination for casual, seasonal al fresco dining where fried shrimp baskets, lobster rolls, grilled fish, and everything in between that’s dipped in tartar sauce, enjoyed with a squeeze of lemon, and comes with a side of fries-n-slaw, is picked up at the window counter. During the winter of 2024, the spot was planning to introduce its year-round business model, complete with a new indoor/outdoor heated construction and full-service bar. But the electrical fire interrupted those plans. “It was not how any of us saw the new year going,” says Owner Susie Pregno of the highly anticipated revamp of the restaurant’s dining space and newly designed bar, “Thankfully, everything the fire claimed can be fixed and replaced.”From the West Shore Seafood announcement:Susie’s seafood oasis, which first opened its doors in June 2007, is ready to welcome back its patrons. The restaurant, housed in a quaint ranch-style storefront that dates back to the 1960s, has been a staple in the community. Over the past 15 years, West Shore Seafood has continually evolved, expanding its menu and adding a catering arm with Executive Chef Rob Thompson, who joined the team last year.West Shore Seafood will open for business Wednesday, May 8, starting at 11 AM. Susie and her team are excited to introduce the restaurant’s new bar, which will offer craft beer, a curated wine list, and creative cocktails. A BYOB restaurant since the beginning, the new beverage program will provide customers with a far more convenient way to enjoy beverages.“We had great fun creating the bar menu. Our relationships with local brewers over the years from doing events together made it easy when picking out the beers to be featured. And I’m not gonna lie. Getting the cocktail recipes just right was a tough job, but somebody had to do it,” says Susie of perfecting the Gold Rush made with Knob Creek bourbon, honey simple syrup, and lemon juice, and the Fiery Tequila Cosmo shaken with Casamigos Tequila, Cointreau, cranberry juice, fresh lime, and Simple Sips Smokin' Hot mango puree.Menu highlights start with classic and creamy New England Clam Chowder, freshly baked lobster butter cheddar biscuits, raw bar favorites, crab cakes with roasted red pepper remoulade, and house-brined and mesquite smoked chicken wings. Fish house-style dishes run the gamut from a buttery warm or cold mayo lobster roll to a grilled salmon BLT and shrimp or oyster po boys. Land and sea Baja style tacos, hearty salads, and fried seafood platters share the stage with market-fresh fish, as seen with the grilled tuna coated in a savory sesame soy with a touch of fiery wasabi aioli marinade. Desserts are off the chart and include a decadent carrot cake and tangy key lime pie, to name a few.Guests can look forward to West Shore Seafood’s popular open-field dining on picnic tables, a new all-weather heated tent dining area, and a full-service bar. While the main kitchen and market remain under construction, guests will order (online ordering is also available) from the counter window, and food will be brought to the tables. Chef Thompson and his kitchen crew will prepare the menu from the West Shore Seafood food truck and mobile kitchen while the main kitchen is completed. Food truck and catering services are available for private parties and festivals.HoursWednesday-Thursday, 11 AM-9 PMFriday and Saturday, 11 AM-10 PMSunday, 12-8 PM449 Bantam Lake Rd, Morris, CT 06763Phone: (860) 567-8000https://www.westshoreseafood.com/The article Popular CT Seafood Restaurant & Market Reopens After Fire appeared first on Across Connecticut, CT Patch.
