Jeopardy! Masters ratings plummet as fans say they’re suffering from ‘tournament fatigue’ & it ‘no longer feels special’
JEOPARDY! fans have reacted to this year’s plummeting ratings after watching Friday night’s latest airing.
The second edition of Jeopardy! Masters continued with Games 7 and 8, as Amy Schneider secured her first win against Matt Amodio and Mattea Roach.

Yogesh Raut also landed the win against Victoria Groce and James Holzhauer, who was last year’s Jeopardy! Masters winner.
While the games may have been exciting, viewership for Season 2 has dipped quite a bit from last year.
While Game 1 in 2023 had 5.78 million viewers tuning in, only 4.2 million watched this year – lending to a 23% decrease.
Game 2 had a 21% decrease with 5.49 million watching in 2023 and 4.32 million watching this year.
Game 3 had the same: a 21% decrease, with 5.45 million viewers in 2023 and 4.1 million viewers in 2024.
After sharing the ratings in an online thread, others gave their thoughts on why they believe 2024 has had less viewership thus far.
“It’s clear there’s heavy tournament fatigue based on the near daily posts on social media and Reddit. I’d bet that’s the culprit,” one person thought.
“Tournament fatigue as well as fatigue of seeing the same contestants over and over,” a second added.
“Last year, there was the added intrigue of James Holzhauer’s first time playing in four years,” a third believed.
“Combination of tournament fatigue, confusion about when it’s on (in part CAUSED by the previous tournaments all being in the regular slot), novelty having worn off, and four of six being repeats from the last Masters, one appointed after losing the qualifier they allegedly had to play,” a fourth noted.
“This year Masters is after a season full of tournaments so people are tired of it a bit. Not counting that 4 of the 6 were in last years Masters,” a fifth said.
“It’s not new and novel like it was last year,” another said, while someone else added that the contestants were “not nearly as fun as last year.”
FAN REACTIONS
Despite the lower ratings this year, Jeopardy! fans were vocal about how much they enjoyed Friday’s game.
