Film Legend, 66, Makes Bold Statement on Aging—and Meryl Streep, 76
Jamie Lee Curtis has a hot take on getting older in the film industry—and one of her fellow acting icons, Meryl Streep.The legendary actress spoke with Page Six during the New York City premiere of Freakier Friday earlier this week, where she reveled in her current state of being. “I am so much more beautiful now than I have ever been in my entire life,” she told the publication, gushing over her life at 66. “That’s because I am living a truth that I feel very comfortable in.”To be sure, it's been an incredible several years for the Hollywood star, who finally won her first Oscar for her work in Everything Everywhere All At Once and has enjoyed a series of hits in Knives Out and, likely, the upcoming Murder She Wrote reboot.Despite her raging success at the moment, she does know an end will come eventually, admitting, "There is a ticking clock for everybody." "There’s a cliff for everybody," she continued. "Every great actor, except Meryl Streep," she joked. "No cliff for Meryl Streep [who is 76]. Other than that, everybody’s going to have a cliff.”But she's prepared herself for the edge, telling the publication that observing her parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, as they "aged out" of the industry has her ready to make an "Irish exit" when the time is right. “I watched my parents lose the thing they loved,” she said. “The thing they loved that gave them fame, attention, art, creativity, it was taken away because they aged out.”She described herself as "a little one foot in, one foot out." “You know, what do they call it? Irish exit. Where you just don’t even, like, all of a sudden you’re not there. I’ve always felt like I needed to do that, or prepare myself to do that.”Thankfully, for now, it doesn't seem like she's disappearing anytime soon.
