Manga Artist Gou Tanabe Illustrates Kickstarter Exclusive Cover of Liminalis One-Shot Comic
Manga artist Gou Tanabe has illustrated a Kickstarter exclusive cover for the upcoming one-shot comic Liminalis. The 200-page one-shot will be published by indie comics company Happy Misfits Publishing, who is currently raising funds on Kickstarter for its release that ends on July 8, 2024 at 11:59 AM EST.
Tanabe’s exclusive cover for the one-shot comic will be printed on 120g paper with an elegant built-in fabric bookmark. It will also be available as an 11”x17” print.
Tanabe is most well-known for his manga adaptations of select H.P Lovecraft works such as At the Mountains of Madness, The Call of Cthulhu, and The Shadow Over Innsmouth, among other titles. All three manga are released in English by Dark Horse Manga.
Liminalis is described by Happy Misfits as a “manga influenced comic” inspired by “Blame!, Silent Hill, and Shadow of the Colossus.” The comic will also be released in English, French, and Japanese.

Happy Misfits describes the synopsis of Liminalis as:
Alone and crammed in a small house amidst a deserted village cloaked in snow, a kid dreams of travel and adventure. If it wasn’t for the strange ailment of unknown origin afflicting him a little more each day, the youngling would already have taken the leap.
A friendly and comforting ghostly creature is there for him though. The mysterious entity seems to only have one purpose: to give solace to the kid who recurring nightmares of an island shrouded in mist, inexorably drawing closer, are becoming increasingly clear and ominous.
Reaping dreams from the dead, the creature gives them to its protégé to escape both reality and nightmares. But, behind the absurdity and thrill of the dreamscape lie some inescapable truths.
