Meliuz Becomes the Largest Bitcoin Treasury Company in Latin America With Latest Purchase
Meliuz, a Latam-based bitcoin treasury company, is accelerating its operations to accumulate as much bitcoin as possible. On Monday, Meliuz CEO Israel Salmen reported another purchase of bitcoin for the company, acquiring 275.43 bitcoin for $28.61 million, with an average price of $103,864.38 per BTC.
The purchase puts Meliuz at the forefront of bitcoin adoption in Latam, becoming the public entity holding the most bitcoin in the region. According to earlier reports, the first place was held by Mercado Libre, an e-tailer giant whose holdings are not their own, but their customers’.
Now, Salmen states Meliuz holds 595.67 bitcoin in its treasury, acquired at an average price of $102,702.84 per BTC.

Central Bank of Bolivia Registers Record Use of Virtual Assets Amidst Dollar Scarcity
The use of cryptocurrency assets in Bolivia’s financial payment system has skyrocketed, indicating a growing preference for these instruments. Data from the Central Bank of Bolivia confirms the increased adoption of virtual assets, reporting record figures since June 2024.
In a press release, the bank highlighted the growth of these activities, reporting that the volumes settled with these assets had risen by 630% in the first semester of 2025 compared to the same period last year.
The volumes rose from $46.5 million during 2024’s first semester to $294 million during 2025’s same period, and accumulated nearly $430 million since June 2024. The number of operations also rose 12 times, reaching over 10,000 transactions.

Brazil to Open Public Consultation to Implement New Accounting Rules for Digital Assets
As more institutions start holding digital assets, governments around the world are redefining the way that these assets are accounted for. The Central Bank of Brazil is ready to issue a public consultation on a regulatory draft that updates the treatment of these assets from an accounting standpoint, depending on their origins.
The proposed ruleset differentiates the accounting treatment of these assets depending on several factors. If the assets were acquired or received, the assets will have to be recognized at the price paid, and there will be updates to these numbers based on the fair value of the assets in the markets.
