‘What a lovely surprise!’ BBC Breakfast viewers rejoice over bank holiday hosting shake up as star is replaced
BBC BREAKFAST viewers have rejoiced over the bank holiday hosting shake up.
Long-time presenters Jon Kay, 54, and Sally Nugent, 52, usually take to the airwaves every Monday.

However, viewers tuned into the bank holiday edition to find some different names at the helm of the show.
Jon was sat in his usual position on the iconic red sofa, however his usual co-host Sally appeared to be missing.
Instead, Nina Warhurst, 43, filled-in as the main female presenter after she recently returned from maternity leave.
She sat alongside Jon to give viewers the latest news updates as they wake up on the bank holiday.
This is as Sally presumably took some much-needed down time away from BBC Breakfast.
Meanwhile, weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was also missing from the programme as she was replaced by Sarah Keith-Lucas, 42.
John Watson was also missing from his usual sport slot as Chetan Pathak appeared in the studio instead.
Fans flocked to social media as they praised Nina’s return to the corporation’s flagship breakfast programme.
Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – they gushed over her presenting skills as they lavished her with praise.
One fan wrote: “#BBCBreakfast Nina definitely is the number 1 female presenter she is so easy to relate to.”
As a second penned: “What a lovely surprise to find lovely smiley Nina Warhurst sitting on the sofa. Much better than that miserable Sally Nugent!”
This was as a third wrote: “I do like the nonsense chit-chat in the morning, always cheers me up! Nina & Jon always great together! @NinaWarhurst @jonkay01#BBCBreakfast.”
And a fourth added: “#BBCBreakfast with northern Nina instead of Silly Sally is a much easier watch.”
However not everyone was happy with the programme, as the BBC covered the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
Controversy arose amid Israel’s participation in the global competition as organisers unfairly recieved calls to boycott the show.
Russia was previously banned from taking part as the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) insisted the situation in Gaza “is different”.
As a pre-recorded report aired on the show, viewers couldn’t help but leave sarcasting comments.
“Eurovision love in again #bbcbreakfast,” stated one viewer.
As another posted: “Oh good. Eurovision #BBCBreakfast,” alongside a sarcastic GIF.
