Todd McFarlane is working with Marvel again (just not how you might expect)
It’s a collaboration that fans have genuinely been waiting for decades to arrive… and now, it’s finally here: Just announced at Phoenix Fan Fusion, iconic creator Todd McFarlane is once again working with Marvel — but not exactly in the way that might be expected. McFarlane Toys is collaborating with Marvel on a new line of posed figures bringing some of Todd’s iconic 1980s and ‘90s artwork for the publisher into three dimensions.
Primed for a summer 2024 launch — just in time for San Diego Comic-Con, perhaps — the line will include 1:10 scale posed figures, as well as 1:6 scale statues; the latter will debut with McFarlane’s Captain America and Spider-Man, with each including a base, illustrated diorama, and free facsimile comic tying into the origin of the source image. (You can see sample images of both right on this page.)
However, it’s not only McFarlane’s own artwork that will be getting this treatment, however; McFarlane Toys says that the line will also include work by Steve Ditko, John Romita Sr, Jim Lee, and Rob Liefeld in its initial wave. (Is it wrong that we're very, very excited at the prospect of seeing a Liefeld Cable in this style?)
