Five recruits Michigan should consider offering from spring evaluation period travels
I traveled across the country during the spring evaluation period this month. Here is a look at five recruits Michigan should consider offering from my travels.
WR Shamarius Peterkin, Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor
I went to Mount Tabor to watch Top 100 safety JaDon Blair, but Peterkin moved the needle for me within the first ten minutes of practice. The four-star prospect looks better than a couple of wide receivers on Michigan’s board and is worth taking a closer look at. The four-star prospect is a bit raw, but he has some juice to his game thanks to his athleticism and ability to make plays after the catch. Peterkin is listed at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, but it looks like he’s added some good weight this offseason and projects as a true outside receiver, which Michigan has a need for this cycle. Right now, NC State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are considered the frontrunners in this recruitment. And that means Michigan could easily become a factor. Plus, pursuing Peterkin could help with Blair.
WR Jayden Kitchens, Upper Marlboro (Md.) Riverdale Baptist (2026)
Kitchens was one of the more impressive young wide receiver prospects I saw on the recruiting trail this spring. While he’s only ranked by one service (a three-star on On3), Kitchens already boasts offers from Oregon, South Carolina, Wisconsin and others. At 6-foo2, 180 pounds, Kitchens is a true outside receiver with strong hands and the ability to go up and get it. Kitchens has a well-filled-out frame for a sophomore and should get plenty of opportunities to be a playmaker at Riverdale Baptist after transferring in from Rock Creek this offseason. Michigan needs more outside receivers on its roster, and Kitchens is definitely worth a look.
DL Christian Corbin, Newport News (Va.) Warwick (2026)
The state of Virginia is absolutely loaded in the 2026 recruiting class, but it feels like Corbin is still going under the radar. At 6-foot-2, 275 pounds, Corbin looks like he’ll play at well over 300 pounds at the next level and be a stout, strong nose. Of course, he could play the three-technique as well. Corbin is physical and powerful and also has a wrestling background, which is always a plus when evaluating defensive linemen. Corbin is unranked and only holds two early P4 offers — Maryland and Wake Forest — but it wouldn’t be surprising to see his stock boom as nose recruits are often late risers.
DL Amier Clarke, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola (2026)
Clarke is yet another nose prospect that could rise later in the process. Like Corbin, Clarke is also listed at 6-foot-2, 275 pounds and has the look of a defensive lineman that will play at well over 300 pounds at the next level. From talking to coaches at Osceola, there is a feeling Clarke could be a national recruit by the time it’s all said and done. They added that Clarke has mostly flown under the radar as he has yet to perform at camps or make many visits. Right now, he holds offers from Marshall and Florida Atlantic. Both offered after watching him live this month. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him garner even more attention this fall.
DB Axavier Bridges-Brooks, Upper Marlboro (Md.) Riverdale Baptist
Michigan is offering 2025 defensive backs with great athletic profiles and plenty of upside. Bridges-Brooks certainly fits that description. Look, this kid is very raw from a technical standpoint and doe not know how to use his physical tools to his advantage, but he’s very impressive on the hoof. Bridges-Brooks is listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, and he looks even bigger than that. He also has terrific length and looked fluid going through individual drills. Bridges-Brooks is not ranked on two services and is a three-star on two others, but he does have an impressive offer sheet led by North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State and Tennessee.
