Aurora Police's Memorial Day Enforcement Yields 55 Citations
AURORA, IL — Aurora police's enforcement campaign for Memorial Day weekend resulted in a total of 55 tickets issued to drivers in the area, officials reported.Officers issued 23 citations for seat belt violations, 10 for speeding, one for distracted driving, and 19 for other violations. Police also made two arrests related to driving under the influence, officials said.Aurora police joined forces with Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement and highway safety partners to enforce traffic laws in the "Click It or Ticket" campaign paid for using funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. "Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts save lives," Robert Hillgoth, a sergeant within the traffic unit, said in a statement.
