Saber no longer buying Metro studio ‘4A Games’ and Zen Studios from Embracer

Back when Saber Interactive paid to split off from Embracer Group, the company had planned to also take over Metro studio, 4A Games. There have been unexpected changes since then and now, 4A Games will be staying under Embracer.
As reported by Jason Schreier today, Saber CEO, Matt Karch, confirmed the news in a statement today, saying “it was always our intention to exercise on 4A, but we thought it would be better for all parties for the studio to remain with Embracer”.
Embracer announced all of this itself earlier today, stating that it has been paid a total of $168.4 million for the early sale of Saber Interactive. There is said to be an additional $28.1 million coming later this year and then once again in 2025. On top of that, Embracer confirms that Saber's option to acquire 4A Games and Zen Studios has been cancelled.
4A Games has been working on the future of Metro since the release of Metro Exodus. Hopefully we'll learn more on that front in the new year.
KitGuru Says: It isn't entirely clear why this part of the Saber deal was cancelled but hopefully this means the developers at 4A Games can continue to focus on their new projects with having to worry about business changes.
