Feeling betrayed by Billy after he fired her from his Abbott Communications start-up, Phyllis has vowed to make him pay. So that’s likely why she’s sitting down at the Jazz Lounge with Victor and trying to strike a bargain. “What information do you have to sell to me?” the Newman inquires. But Phyllis has played this game before and with this particular player, so she’s naturally cagey. “I’m not going to give you… anything,” she replies, “until you promise me something in return.”

Ever since Mariah returned from her business trip, Tessa suspected she was keeping something from her, but now wonders if she’s the cause of the growing distance between them. “If you feel like you can’t forgive me,” she says through her tears, “maybe we should try… therapy? Or family counseling? I mean, please, Mariah, we just have to find a way to work through this.” Also crying, Mariah turns to her wife and shakes her head. “It’s not you who needs to be forgiven,” she insists. But will Mariah finally confess what’s got her so upset, or will Tessa go on imagining the worst?
Claire may be looking forward to a future with Kyle, but she knows that she wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy it without Victor’s blessing. “We have to change his mind about Kyle,” she insists to Victoria and Nikki with a smile. Arms folded across her chest, a wary Nikki wonders, “So, just what is this grand scheme of yours?” Throwing up her hands, Claire announces with a grin: “I want to throw a party!” But what kind of bash does she think will make her grandfather approve of her relationship with the Abbott heir?
