Saturday update on South Carolina’s third big recruiting weekend
South Carolina is hosting 11 official visitors this weekend as the Gamecocks complete their third and final big recruiting weekend of the summer.
Below are some notes we’ve picked up already. As always, we’ll start to have reactions and probably some real idea of where things are on Sunday.
— This weekend’s official visits appear to follow really similar timelines to the first two official visit weekends, with minimal to no changes to the plans.
Visits will begin to wrap up on Sunday afternoon.
The majority of the Friday portion of the visit featured a themed dinner at Williams-Brice Stadium followed by a the players and families then splitting into their own hospitality suites before ultimately the prospects then went with their player hosts to spend more time around the team.
The bulk of the visit takes place on Saturday beginning with a catered breakfast at head coach Shane Beamer’s house.
After breakfast, the prospects headed to the Rice Athletic Campus where they received a tour of the indoor facility and the ops building followed by presentations on mental health, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and professional development.
After that, the prospects and families split again and each will have a chance to ask questions of current players on a player panel. The prospects will also have meetings with the offensive and defensive coordinator depending on the side of the ball they play on.
Part of the afternoon was spent at the Dodie Academic Center where the prospects had lunch and ice cream as well as an academics presentation.
The nutrition demos have always been popular with prospects and as we’ve mentioned before this year the recruits will be making their own pizzas with mini pizza ovens.
Tonight, the prospects and their families will once again split up with the prospects going bowling and the parents having a dinner and social hour.
— As has become the trend, all of this weekend’s official visitors are planning to be midyear enrollees.
— Of the uncommitted prospects, I got the impression that South Carolina felt good entering the weekend with Kendall Daniels, Zavion Hardy, EJ Thomas, and Donovan Darden.
I haven’t heard much about where Carolina feels it is with Bryce Davis and I’d consider that a little more “wait and see” given that the Gamecocks weren’t in his initial final group and got added later as an OV.
I’d put quarterback Cutter Woods somewhere in between that first group and Davis in terms of where I think Carolina stands — I do believe there’s some confidence in the building that the Gamecocks will give him a lot to think about this week.
There have been some additional positive signs with Thomas on Saturday.
— Here’s the list of visitors along with their scheduled hosts:

— Even though it wasn’t an official visit, Newnan (Ga.) class of 2026 four-star linebacker Rodney Colton, who committed to South Carolina in April, was on campus on Friday with several family members.
It appeared to be a little more than just a typical camp drop-by and they were spotted at the indoor facility spending time with Shane Beamer, Clayton White, and recruiting assistant Dru Lindler.
Colton is the No. 2 linebacker in his class.
